July 30th, 2009 · No Comments · Testosterone, Therapies

There have been several discussions regarding the decrease of testosterone and its subsequent result in the form of male menopause, but this too has conflicting opinions. Scientists are of the opinion that any such state does not exist while on the other hand, men you go through it vouch for its presence. This makes us to believe that it is all a question of personal choice. The hormone testosterone plays a significant role here. It is seen that the levels of natural testosterone decrease significantly with age and this brings in hormone related effects. This decrease is significant once the man crosses 30 years of age. The symptoms of male menopause could include the man being irritated more often, decrease in his sexual performance and lack of concentration. Now these symptoms of male menopause are very much as those witnessed by women suffering from menopause. With age men start to believe that they are losing their sexual drive and are not being able to perform their best.

Male menopause is attributed to the decrease in the amount of testosterone in the man’s body. But it has to be understood that these symptoms  need not come forward in all males and therefore is subjective. The environment that the man lives in also plays an important role towards male menopause. If the man follows a healthy lifestyle and eats the right food then it is possible that he will be spared or will face reduced effects. A healthy testosterone diet will help reduce the symptoms of male menopause. What is also required is that one should exercise regularly and remain fit. This will prevent them from suffering serious consequences of menopause.

Reasons for Decrease in Testosterone

The decrease in the level of testosterone which leads to male menopause can be both natural as well as induced. With age, the male body undergoes changes which leads to a natural decrease in production of testosterone. But there are also present several factors which are induced by man and therefore are artificial.

Factors Behind Male Menopause

These are factors which are beyond the genetic and body factors which result in male menopause. These mentioned factors include the likes of smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol, leading a sedentary and care free life which leads towards unwanted weight gain and obesity as well as unhealthy lifestyle changes. If one can control or put a stop to these mentioned factors then it is surely possible to keep a check on the appearance of male menopause symptoms.
